Solar Works

SolarWorks-logoSolar Works is a division of Mathers Electric Company, Inc.  In 1986, Mike Mathers opened Mathers Electric for business. With energy costs so high we saw a need for a renewable energy source that was also environmentally friendly.  We sought out and got the best training available for installing and maintaining solar systems from Solar Energy in Jacksonville, Florida.  Backed up by our many years of experience as an electrical contractor, Mathers Electric formed a division in 2008, called “Solar Works ”.

Solar Hot Water Systems

Domestic hot water may account for up to 30% of your monthly energy costs.  It is, unquestionably, the most cost-effective way to reduce your energy bill month after month.  Utilize the suns energy on your own roof rather than buying it from the utility company.  Clean, green, pollution-free, renewable energy for life.

Key Features

  • Active indirect water heating with drain-back technology
  • Eliminates both freezing and overheating concerns
  • Electric element for back-up heat if needed
  • Includes programmable electronic controller with direct-read tank and collector temperatures
  • Uses Solar Energy, Inc. glazed thermal collectors (both roof-mount and roof-integrated)
  • Certified by the Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC) and Solar Rating and Certification Corp. (SRCC)

Photovoltaic Solar Systems

Each fully integrated solar electric system has been designed and tested for system-wide reliability and durability before installation. Solar electric modules can be installed on the ground, on trellis roofs or on the roof of your home.  Roofing materials and roofing designs play an integral part in the selection of solar modules for your home. The amount of power you can generate with a solar electric system will vary according to geographic location, weather fluctuations, roof orientation, and the amount of direct sunlight that makes contact with the system.

Timeline of Solar Systems

  • 1950’s – Solar photovoltaic cells were invented as a power source for satellites
  • 1970’s – Solar technology became popular for land-based power applications like remote industrial and telecommunications use, TV, radio and cellular stations.
  • Last 20 years – Solar power has been used for urban applications such as roadside emergency telephones, traffic signboards, residential housing and commercial buildings.

Take Advantage

Solar helps control your costs, manage your energy risk, and increase your cash flow.  You transform an energy expense into a fixed asset – your own power source.

Solar systems are environmentally friendly because they produce clean and natural energy from the sun.  A typical 3.8 kW system prevents more than 5 tons of C02 from entering the atmosphere – the equivalent of planting over an acre of trees a year!

For every $1 of energy savings, the value of your home increases by $20

The Federal Government has just passed a bill that will:

  • Give a 30% tax credit off your federal income tax on both business and residential installations.
  • Give 30% unlimited tax credit on the total installed amount
